Last night I had my class process some black and white super8 film in buckets. It's a lot of fun, but makes a bit of a mess. Thanks to Jake for offering up his apartment.

Spent a couple days with Craig Mast and Pete Paulic in Warren, Ohio. We shot at Craigs Barn Ramp and a handful of skateparks around ohio for the New Pollution show on fuel. Class act dudes, thanks guys.

Documentary filmmaker and film of the day.
Filmmaker: Jørgen Leth from Denmark.
Film: “A Sunday in Hell”
A film about the one day bike race Paris-Roubaix 1976 featuring Eddy Merckx and others. A great film for cyclist, art/documentary film fans, and about anybody interested in 1970's Euro fashions. My friend Brent Hulme turned me on to this film about 15 years ago.

Taliah Lempert, an artist I really like, was at the bike show. I bought a this small original piece of a old BSA bike. Also bought a raffle for a painting of a Davis Phinney's bike to benefit the Davis Phinney Foundation. I talked with Davis about a ride my college friends, Jon Heaton and Russell Wrankle, and I did with Davis at the Moab Fat Tire Festival in 1988. We took off without him on a ride and when he caught up he talked about us dropping him---he was trying to make us feel good or something. Jon kept messing with Davis calling him Dave and making Davis’ wife laugh. Jon the ultimate farm boy from Idaho. ...anyway it was great to see Taliah, I really like her artwork.

He hugged me and jumped around and screamed and couldn’t stop talking about his son.
The Nasty one is a dad dad daddy-o...very cool.
Tim and I did a film about Nasty a few years ago (Nasty’s World), one of my favorite films.

Been filming Tyson Bowerbank, he is this amazing 11 year old skater from Salt Lake City. We are filming for the new Fuel TV show about kids called "New Pollution." This kid is a great street skater and is also an amazing transition skater-pulling of big airs over the pool coping at South Jordan Skatepark. Being an old man skater I love watching a kid this young destroy a bowl.

To all the Utah people:
We are having a screening of the Burton Silverman Documentary at the BYU Museum of Art. The screening is on Thursday September 21st at 7:00 pm. There will be food and a Jazz band afterward. Burton is going to be there. Should be good fun. Tim, Rose Card and I worked on this film. Rose is an intern from BYU and did an amazing job. This is a documentary mostly about his drawings that are at the museum for the next few months.

While at Russell’s studio I met his hippie apprentice Danny Crump. After the ride and feed Russ showed me this online piece the paper did on Danny. I loved it, have a look.

Just did a quick LA road trip---hate airports in times like these. I got in two bikes rides (forgot the camera) near Zion National Park with my old friend Russell Wrankle the artist.
We had some good laughs.

this was our first gig with the HVX, worked like a champ, even when hanging out of a van.

here's a still from a 30 second spot we are doing right now. it's about 2 dudes makeing art in the streets, in a bit of serendipity, it rained at the end of the shoot makeing a perfect ending for the spot.

It was good. Now they are back in school today. Summer over?

Years ago by brother got me into sailing---been working on the Hobie Cat all summer to party on the lake with the kids tomorrow. These boats are fun as hell and no gas.

After the X-Games got to relax with the family. Took the kids surfing for the first time at Doheny. It is a perfect place to teach the kids to surf. This photo is my boy Fish, 8, on his first day of surfing.

Just got done filming a week of the X-Games but must admit at I had more fun at Sean Ziebarth’s pool in Orange County.

I'm catching up on some stuff today, can you tell? I never gave the beard a proper send off. So here's the before and after pics. I think it was just over 5 months. Steve says I looked like a serial killer with the beard. I'll admit that I look pretty grumpy in that picture.

we got another tool for our documentary tool box. It's a different way of thinking when your shooting. The workflow feels a lot more like a digital still camera as opposed to shooting to tape or film. So far it's been fantastic. I'll be posting more detailed thoughts about it either here or at hvxuser
